Final Blog

Well, it's finally the last week of school with all the finals going on. Its really crazy trying to study for all of them but for this class, everyone finished their E-portfolios and handed them in for the final mark. I had to stay after class and had abit of trouble at first but luckily Mr. Vendramin stayed and helped me out until I was done even though I took the easier way out. Mr. V was running around like crazy trying to help everyone and finally he decided that if you did the Vodcast for your E-portfolio it would count as bonus marks. Now that this class is done im going into computor science next year and perhaps in grade 12 may come back and do CM 30. Cya next year!!!

This week I finished my flash all up. I think it turned out pretty good in the end. It was senior skip day so it was really quiet on Monday while they all relaxed from the night before. Atleast I finished flash. CFD's are just around the corner!!!!

Week 14

This week we had a shortened week. Due to Monday being a day we had off, I worked on my audio projects a bit more on Tuesday. Then I wasn't here Wednesday because I was at the Conexus Art Center for the choral concert during the day and night. I also wasn't here Thursday because I was at drivers. Now it's Friday and I'm doing my blog and will be working on my audio projects some more.

Week 13

This week I worked on the robot rumble video for awhile, made sure my E-portfolio links were working and handed that in.  We had Jarrett come in from Toronto and tell us about his life and what he has worked on and gave us some tips.  I finished the birth right video even though I put barely any time into it.  I do not like working with audio or video projects, I prefer Photoshop, Dreamweaver, and Flash.  Hopefully I finish the audio/video projects soon so we can start Flash and Dreamweaver.

This week I worked on get my E-Portfolio closer to being done.  I am down with working in Photoshop with it now, and have all my pages linked now, so all I have left to do is put the links up to go to my assignments.

Week 10

This week I think I got a lot done by working on my E-Portfolio.  I finally got the background to the way I like it and I started adding some pictures and the buttons that will be the link button.  We didn't do much this week.  Next week I will be gone on the choral trip...HAHAHAHHAHAHAH!!!!

Week 9

This week we worked on the infomercial, and I worked on the robot rumble video.  We also went to the university on wednesday for the whole day and took pictures, videos, and watched presentations that Musicounts put on.  On thursday I had the choral concert at O'neill all day.  Today I am working on my blog (right now) and watching the Robot Rumble video.

Week 8

This week my infomercial group finally got to go into the broadcast room and finish our infomercial.  I got bonus marks too because I put on the morph suit.  I worked on my E-Portfolio template and watched the videos that helped us out with slicing this weekend.  Im still not done the videos yet but will be soon.

Week 7

This week I went and helped out with the broadcast room, with working the computer and camera angles.  We had Tuesday off due to the parent teacher conferences, and we will be getting Friday off as well because of Good Friday.  On Wednesday and Thursday we worked on our E-Portfolio projects, even though I was already done all of it except making my rough draft, and making the actually thing.  I am SOOOOOOOOOOO HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY that we have next week off.

Friday 22 March 2013

Week 6

This week I finished up watching the video explaining ideas on E-Portfolios and wrote my blog on my whole idea on that and what I learned.  I also found three E-Portfolios and did a blog on those explaining on what I liked about them and how they set everything up.  Kayden and I were having some trouble in the broadcast room the first time we went there this week.  We hopefully resolved everything and will have a better day today if our group goes there.

E-Portfolio

The first E-Portfolio I looked at had a great layout and it was easy to access everything he wanted you to go in with his navigation.  He had good colours and text fonts which made it pop more than others.  The overall appearance and effectiveness was good, I would be interested in his E-Portfolio if I was someone hiring others for a job.
For the second E-Portfolio I looked at it was a calming use of fonts, colours, and pictures.  The navigation and layout was good, it wasn't too busy.  It felt like a relaxing E-Portfolio.  I think this E-Portfolio has a great effectiveness, as soon as I saw it it calmed me down somewhat.
For my final E-Portfolio that I looked at it was also very well done.  The navigation and layout on it was great, there weren't buttons everywhere and they used some colours to keep you attracted to it, like a deep red.  The pictures were also great and the overall concept was pretty interesting.

E-Portfolio

I learned that HTML changed the whole image of computing around the world.  Instead of just making templates and stuff like that for yourself, they used it to make all the scripts and coding in a website and how it functions.  They then keep taking it to a whole new level by evolving this program.  they started using flash then and just made it more powerful in the computer industry.  They started challenging themselves even more now by using it to start creating Apps for phones such as the IPhone.  I learned that a website can be very simple, yet very affective at the same time. (like Craigslist).  A website can also be very busy and not work as well (like Facebook).  And if you have too many colours, or too little colours it wont look as great, or work as great as if you had simple but effective colours that don't make your eyes go everywhere.  There is a huge impact on our world with all the new technology and mobile devices.

Week 5

This week I got a lot done.  I finished my Copyright Assignment, finished my Juno Poster (i don't think it's that great), and started on our Informercial for the Harlem Shake Juice.  We finished our storyboard, and have gone back to the Broadcast room.  I am with Kayden and Merissa for my group.  I think we will be working on our Infomercial for the next week or so.  I don't like doing the Infomercial that much.  Mr. V helped me solve some of my 4 pics 1 word answers (Thanks).  I still HATE blogger.

Thursday 7 March 2013

Week 4

This week most people finished their Juno posters… I am not one of those people. We started and are almost done our Copyright Assignments. We had to watch the video then answer all of the questions and put them on Blogger. We started this so early because we have to always keep in mind not to copyright someone's work. We have gone to the broadcast room to start our infomercials and figure out the lighting and camera angles. We had a lock down will I'm the broadcast room. I hope to get my Juno poster done by the end of next week.

Copyrights and Wrongs

What do you think it means to use someone else's creative work responsibly? I think it means using it with their permission first, or ensuring them that you are using it.  Make sure to follow the steps and put the creator's name on it (or give him the title).  It means that you shouldn't go around just copying anything you want and using it whenever and wherever you want without giving the author the rights.  It will just hurt you in the long run if you start using it at a young age, because in the future no one will put up with it.
Does it matter how and where you use it? Yes, it always matters where and how you use it.  It matters where you use it because if you use it in a inappropriate manor you could get into major trouble, and could end up getting sued, failing your course (if in university), or get fired from your job.  It also matters how you use it, because if you take all of someone else's work and put your name on it you will  be held for copyright.  Even if you only take some of their work and put your name it can also be held as copyrighting.  Unless you get their permission first and put their name on it as well you will always be held for copyright.
If you created a picture, poem, or video and posted it online, how do you think you would handle sharing it or managing its copyright?  It depends, if it's something someone else can make money off of I would make sure that no one else could use it.  If it's just a picture of my dog I wouldn't care if anyone else uses it.  I would also make sure to check up on it every once and awhile to make sure no one is copying.  In the first place I probably wouldn't be posting anything online.
Would you make people get your permission every time they used the work, use a Creative Commons license, or would you put it in the public domain?  Like I said in the last question and answer, it would depend on what it is they are trying to use.  If it's something simple I wouldn't care how many times they use it.  But if it's something that someone else can make money off of somehow I would either need them to ask me first (depending if it's still not as big I wouldn't care), but if it is something major I would need them to give me a profit of what they make, pay me upfront, or not use it at all.

Week 3

This was the week that I finished my Design Certificate, and so did most of the others in this class.  I thought I was going to be finished awhile ago, but I took in a lot of comments on what else to do or fix with my certificate.  I haven't started my Juno awards outline sketch or real thing yet.  I would prefer to do it as a job rather than just individually.  I am hoping to get ANOTHER GREAT idea and make a cool poster for them.  I have to finish my copyright assignment as well next week.

2nd Week In CM20/30

Well, a second week has gone by now, I finished up my video game cover, and they will be printed soon, as well as my hall pass.  I started my certificate for the DX/Sears design competition, I finished the rough copy and am just starting on the real thing on Photoshop.  I am hoping to actually accomplish what I planned to do for the design.  I am trying to do a human head where you can see gears, and a lightbulb lighting up, as the person is thinking of the competition.  It would be awesome if myself, or anyone in the class even to win the certificate competition.  Long week off before next class begins.

First week in Mr. V's class

This is the first week that I have spent in Mr. Vendramin's class with him being here.  I had Communication Media 10 last semester, and I really did enjoy it, so I signed up for Communication Media 20/30.  I really do like working in this class, with a few friends, I like getting their opinions and their point of view on things.  I've already done the Hall Pass assignment before, but the Game Cover was new to me and I really did enjoy it.  I am hoping to finish it up very soon, even though I do enjoy this project a lot.  I was away for the broadcast room even though I wish I would have been there for the experience.  I hope to start my certificate on Monday.  I really enjoyed this class!!!
